Avandia Information

Recently, the diabetic medication, Avandia, has reappeared in news headlines. Avandia is a prescription medication that was approved in the United States in 1998 to treat type 2 diabetes by helping control blood sugar levels.

The drug, which is manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline PLC, has been shown to cause:

  • Congestive Heart Failure;
  • Heart Attack;
  • Liver Toxicity;
  • Stroke; and
  • Severe Allergic Reaction.

It has been estimated that Avandia caused between 60,000 and 200,000 heart attacks and deaths due to cardiovascular complications between 1999 and 2006.

If you or a loved one have suffered any of the above complications as a direct result of taking Avandia, you may be entitled to financial compensation from Avandia's manufacturer, GlaxoSmithKline PLC.
