Drop-Side Crib Recall: One Year Later

Last November, Stork Craft Manufacturing Inc., in conjunction with the Consumer Product Safety Commission ("CPSC") issued the largest crib recall in United States history, when 2.1 million Stork Craft drop-side cribs were recalled from the market.

The dropdown sides were found to be extremely unsafe and resulted in dozens of babies either becoming entrapped between the side and the crib frame, or falling out of the crib altogether. In fact, at the time of the recall, 4 infant deaths and 110 strangulation incidents had already been reported to the CPSC.

The recall which affected 2.1 million Stock Craft drop-side cribs manufactured between January 1993 and October 2009 was said to be due to a malfunctioning plastic hardware which caused a strangulation hazard.

At the time of the recall, drop-side cribs accounted for approximately 20% of all United States crib sales and could be commonly purchased at all large U.S. retail outlets such as K Mart, Toys 'R Us, Sears, and Wal-Mart.

Anyone who has purchased a crib manufactured by Stork Craft Manufacturing Inc., may be entitled to a claim for economic damages, even if no injuries have occurred. Please contact a Freidin • Dobrinsky attorney at 1-866-495-8060 to determine your legal rights.
