Taser Guns Linked to Heart Attacks, Cardiac Problems and a
Growing Number of Fatalities

Taser

Taser International, the Scottsdale, Ariz.-based manufacturer of the 50,000-volt stun guns recently released a "Training Bulletin" warning that a shot fired to the upper chest could cause cardiac problems and in rare cases, heart attack and death. Taser's bulletin states that the risk of someone going into cardiac arrest when a Taser is deployed is low, but notes people's reactions cannot be predicted, particularly those that have underlying medical conditions. Police departments across the country have urged officers to avoid shooting suspects in the chest.
